yuurei 幽霊, enki 寃鬼 ogre - kori 狐狸
人が死んで魂魄がまだ散じる前は、寃鬼となって人間の目にも見える事がある。それを日本では幽霊と呼んでいる。寃鬼が見える時は雲や霧のようだが、雲霧も天地の気が集まったものであるのと同様に、寃鬼も気が集まっているので見えるのだという。また、死んで長年経ってから見えるのは狐狸の妖怪である。

ある女が鬼となって葬所で死人を食べた。殺そうとしたが山に逃げた。これを聞いた人が言うには、乱心も身体の病がなすものであり、虚症の人には狐狸の類が憑いて狂わせるといった。

役小角は葛城山に岩橋を架けた時、多くの鬼神を使った。また、役小角は葛城上郡茆原村の出身で、狐を使役して妖術で人を誑かした為韓国連広足の進言により伊豆大島に流罪になった。

onibaba 鬼婆
昔夫が夜猟から帰ると妻は鬼婆に食われてしまっていたが、お腹の子供は食われずに残っていた。子供は成長すると大男になり、鬼婆に鉄の弾を食らわせて殺し、母親の仇を討った。男は相撲取りの元祖になった。鬼婆の正体は狐だった。
